If you think all you'll find in Dallas are cowboys and rodeos, you're in for a surprise.  Dallas is home to historic museums, stunning architecture, and rare art collections.  In fact, Dallas doesn’t just dabble in the arts – it boasts the largest urban arts district in the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallascountry.  The Dallas Museum of Art has art collections from around the world, while the Crow Collection of Asian Art houses architectural pieces from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia.   The Nasher Sculpture Center is one of the few institutions devoted to the exhibition, study and preservation of modern sculpture.  Architecture buffs can find their pleasure at Fair Park, home to 1930’s Art Deco style buildings.

Dallas is a very family-friendly town, with many year round kid-friendly activities.  Six Flags has two famous parks: Six Flags Over Texas with thrill rides and state-of-the-art roller coasters, and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor – the ultimate oasis of water park fun.  For those in need of an adrenaline rush, Speed Zone is a 12 acre park with four different race tracks.  Other family oriented ventures include Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Dallas World Aquarium, and the Dallas Zoo.

Dallas is making its mark as a fashion capital, and there is plenty of shopping to be had in carious areas of the city.  Dallas Galleria is a mall popular with families with its brand name stores, restaurants and an ice-skating rink. North Park Center is a more elegant shopping area, complete with a sculpture collection.  Vintage trolleys will take you along the antiques, art and interior design stores in the Uptown shopping area.  The Plaza at Preston Center makes its claim as a shopping experience and is as much as place to shop as it is to stroll along the landscaped walkways.

Locals love their Dallas sports, and if you’re looking for a new group to root for, there are a variety of professional sports teams to choose from.  There are the  Dallas Cowboys football team, affectionately known as “America’s Team.”  For basketball, you have the Dallas Mavericks; for baseball, the Texas Rangers; and for hockey, the Dallas Stars.  NASCAR fans should experience the Texas Motor Speedway, recognized as one of the world's most modern speedways.  And yes, rodeos are extremely popular in Dallas…experience some true southwestern rodeo culture at the Mesquite Rodeo and Texas Stampede.
